Pattern Weights

A few weeks ago I showed this picture of my lovely stack of fabric, which has now turned into...

Voila! pattern weights!

Last year I made over 125 weights for the This-End-Up co-op, and I'm grateful to have the opportunity again this year. Weights will also be available in my Etsy shop if I get busy. :) I also have a few sewing projects lined up. Oh, and the new issue of Ottobre should be here any day! So much to sew....

happy day,
Ruth

I love your pattern weights! Would you mind sharing how you make them? I've made some with ribbon, but they are not nearly as nice or as large as yours. They look like giant washers, but where do you get such large washers? And what do you do to the end of the strip of fabric? do you tuck it in somehow or glue them down?

Of course, we all understand if you want to keep it a trade secret . . . . =)

  3. I get giant washers at Lowe's or Home Depot. Probably any hardware store would have them.

  4. You can find washers at most any hardware store, but you can rarely find the big 4.5" washers like I use. My local Lowe's and Home Depot so not have the 4.5" washers.

I love how they look like pineapple rings. :)

  8. CUTE! My kids obsessively collect rocks, so at some point I gathered up a bunch of the nice smooth ones (most of which have been painted pretty colours) and use those. They work pretty well, come in a variety of sizes, and let me actually use something that was otherwise kicking around my house driving me NUTS. :D
