The dress is finished, the pictures are taken, and I've entered the dress in the Sewing For Children Contest at patternreview.com. Check out all the wonderful garments that other contestants have sewn, and if you are a PR member then place your vote after July 31st for the item you like best. Regardless of whether or not I win, this dress has truly been a delight to sew!
P.S. The fabric I used is called "Little Honey" which is why I call this the Little Honey Dress.
I have a reprint of an old book for my daughter, and one of the pictures has a little girl in a dress with ruffles on the front. Ever since you posted about the ruffle placket, I think of you sewing this dress when I read that book. :)
I'd vote for you if I could, but I'm not a member of that site. Hope you win!
Your daughter is so beautiful (so is the dress) but she is such a honey. I have 3 grandchildren and I love taking pictures of them. It's probably cause I'm biased but I think they are just the cutest little things. I have photos of them on my blog.
I actually commented on the last post about this dress but its even better when you actually see it on. Great job and love the model. Where did you get the material?
this is an absolutely adorable dress modeled by an absolutely adorable model. The dress and fabric reminds me of one I had as a child -- love the color. Your blog is inspiring me to try my hand at clothing sewing again -- not just quilts!
Thank you for your nice comment, I follow your blog too! I find this dress lovely and when I saw you'd submitted it I though "repeating winner" so the end result was a huge surprise. You've inspired me and we don't have Oliver and S patterns here in Europe so I'll stick with your original idea and alter the Ottobre pattern to make daughter a similar dress. I hope you won't mind :)
Beautiful dress, and modelled so well!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely dress and she looks very pretty in it!
ReplyDeleteHope you win! It is a honey of a dress!

Look at all the great details on that dress. And there's nothing cuter than a model in pigtails!
