Pictures and a Lesson Learned

I finally got pictures taken of Katie wearing her new dress. The dress fits her well, but I did notice something unpleasing when I saw the pictures---look at the leaf design at the waistband. I made sure not to have a big flower in an unflattering place on the bodice, but I didn't even think to check the print repeats. I do not like how the leaf design is repeated on the waistband and directly above on the bodice. Lesson learned. :)

Happy sewing,
Ruth

  1. The dress looks lovely on her! I can imagine how you feel about the waste band. On the other hand, if you hadn't said anything about it, I would never have noticed. I just would have admired this really cute dress. And I still do :-)

  2. The dress is really lovely and such a nice fit. Yes, my eyes did go to the waistband, but that's just because you mentioned it. It's a beautiful dress! I really don't think anyone will notice -- just you and that's what we tend to do when we make things -- focus on issues that, truth be told, no one else really sees.

  3. I looked at the picture before reading the post and my first thought was that I LOVED the way the waistband looks. I thought it was intentional until I read the post. I think the leaves are a pretty detail and look artistic, while drawing the face upward.

    Gorgeous dress and gorgeous girl.

  4. Oh, it's very pretty. I wouldn't worry about the print matching, at least you've avoided the worst of having a large flower on the bust point.

  6. Great job on the dress! I love the fabric and it suits her to a T!

I wouldn't have noticed the band either but can understand the frustration!

  9. So very pretty! I also thought you had put the leaves there intentionally until I read the post!

  10. The fabric is beautiful and I must say made up into a lovely dress. No-one seems to notice the 'flaws' we think are there, LOL ;-)!
