One of the best feelings in the world is when you take a newly finished, just-washed quilt out of the dryer and wrap yourself up in its warm softness. Yes, I finished the quilt!
I love this quilt. I love the beautiful puckery-ness of a quilt when it's been through the dryer for its first time. I love seeing all those tiny squares and am awed that I actually had the patience 10 years ago to sew those little pieces together. I love that I have a new quilt on my bed, and that I made it!
I think I'm going to wrap myself up in my quilt and take a nap...
Ruth :)
If I recall, the pattern is either a 9-Patch Variation, or
Wow! I can't believe it is finally done! Congratulations. You are proof that you can finish those long drawn out projects...even if it is 10 years later. Maybe you will inspire me to finish my wedding ring quilt. Ha ha. I haven't even started on the quilting.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see it on your bed.
Wow! It's beautiful, Ruth! You did a great job! :-)

It's gorgeous! Congratulations on finishing it.
ReplyDeleteWow! So pretty! It looks like a variation of an Irish Chain quilt. Google it and you'll see what I mean. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have a simple quilt that I'm working on for Annika, but ran out of the fabric...you just inspired me to finish it. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Tammy! It was a pattern called Irish Chain, but I remember it was not exactly like Irish Chain, but a variation! You must be good with quilt patterns---I'm not. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, congratulations on finishing.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Ruth. You should get a gold star for sticking with it all those years!

I love the puckering look, too. Your quilt is beautiful. You did wonderful work. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWow! I also cannot believe you had the patience to do all of that!
ReplyDeleteMakes me wanna get into quilting.
Ruth...it is gorgeous!!! Your hard work and persistence sure paid off!!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!!! I made a double Irish chain quilt....it was twin size and it took me two or three years!!! Those tiny squares take awhile!!! You did great!!!
ReplyDeleteRuth, when I was in high school, my sister and I were "into" quilts, and we would check out quilting books from the library almost every time we went! So I know a lot of the names of quilts. Not that I have ever finished a quilt, but I know their names! Haha
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing. It is beautiful!! The modern and art quilts of today are beautiful but give me an old-fashioned quilt with puckery-ness (I'm going to add that word to my vocab.) any day.
ReplyDeletecongratulations!! it looks beautiful!
