Close-up of the Front: Take a look at the topstitched darts.
The Flower Brooch was made following Cindy's tutorial at sew-blessed.blogspot. This sweet flower is the perfect touch for an otherwise simple dress.
I also made a second flower for Emily's hair.

The Under Slip: My own pattern design. The back has a placket with a snap. The neck and armholes are finished with a shell stitch.
This is beautiful!! So is the color more of the blue color or lavendar?
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I love the fabric choices and especially the fabric flower.
ReplyDeleteSandra,
ReplyDeleteThe fabric is more of a periwinkle color---not quite blue, and not quite lavender. The outside pictures came out blue for some reason, and I didn't know how to fix that.
What a pretty dress , the colour and style is so beautiful . You sure have a gorgeous little girl .
ReplyDeleteThis is such a wonderful Easter dress! Well done.
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks for your great tutorial on how to convert a jeans to maternity pants. Very useful!
Such a sweet dress, your dd looks darling.
ReplyDeleteThe slip peeping out at the hemline really makes the dress special! I love all the cute details you've shared. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet dress and a sweet little lady to wear it. How you found the Oliver + S patterns to be easy to work with? I have twin nieces I wanted to make some summer dresses for and wasn't sure if Oliver + S patterns were for the more experienced sewer.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is *adorable*! I love that pattern, the curved yoke is just the cutest little thing ever.
ReplyDeleteOh my! Simply adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dress!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is absolutely gorgeous. With 5 (soon to be six) granddaughters, I especially like the idea of the slip for adding more wearing time to the dress. And it is soooo adorable. Thanks for the ideas.

Very, very sweet. You made this pattern look amazing!
ReplyDeletePretty in blue. Gorgeous dress.
ReplyDeleteDarling! I love the underdress and the cuff sleeves!
ReplyDeleteThe dress is so pretty. I have an off topic question about sport elastic. Do you use sport elastic in your children waistband treatments. I'm trying to improve my technique for using the stitch through sport elastic. I'm trying to find a tutorial or some assistance. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Ruth...the dress and sweet Emily are precious!!! I'm glad you like the fabric flower tutorial. I think they are fun to put together and mildly addictive!!!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely. I almost used a flower on the one for my baby but decided it was too big on her frame. I'll definitely do it when she's older. I love that!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty.
ReplyDeleteJoyce, I do not have your email address to reply personally, so if you see this, please email me. I don't know off-hand of any tutorials for the sports elastic, but a google search may turn up one. I can tell you how I did the elastic on the pants at this link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/callmeruth/2683739711/in/set-72157607095978638/
ReplyDeleteWhen I sewed these pants I used the sew-through sports elastic, and I was more than pleased with the results.
Absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dress - I love those flowers!
